'A' Mountain
Retreat
A high-altitude getaway rooted in the landscape. Raw timber, stone, and glass work with the terrain rather than against it. The envelope responds to solar gain; passive strategies reduce mechanical load year-round.
The section is carved into the hillside — reducing the building's visual mass while anchoring it to the site. South-facing glazing frames a specific mountain view; all other windows are pulled back to control light and maintain insulation.
